The Challenge

The Operational Analysis and Research team at HMRC needed an inexpensive way to measure performance to ensure that HMRC was meeting expectations, using currently available software.

DseConsulting Solution

In an initial 6-week scoping phase, dseConsulting liaised with all stakeholders, including senior board representatives and internal customers, to understand the need for performance information and to understand how best to deliver it.

DseConsulting then delivered a written report outlining potential options. Having accepted the recommendations, HMRC appointed dseConsulting for the implementation phase.

DseConsulting developed a fully automated Business Intelligence (BI) application in Microsoft Access, pulling data from multiple disparate sources and using Excel to deliver a bespoke scorecard to monitor current performance and illustrate how this changed over time.
